BOOK: "PROSPERITY God’s Desire for His People"
should dispel once and for all any notion that to be poor or poverty on earth is God’s desire for Christians.
The earth is the Lord’s and He filled the earth with riches. If these riches are not for His People on earth, for whom are these riches then? Scripture says that, “It was not through law that Abraham and his offspring received the promise that he would be heir of the world, but through righteousness that comes by faith.” Scripture also says that “If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.” The Holy Spirit in us assures us that, indeed, we, Christians, belong to Christ and, therefore, heirs to the promise, which is no less than the world! Hence, it is the Christians, the spiritual descendants of Abraham through faith in Christ Jesus, that God has vested with the dominion of the world. Such dominion, exercised with WISDOM, should lead to PROSPERITY for Christians (Christianity), in paticular, and for all peoples on earth (Genesis 22:18), in general.
The said verses also belie the claim of the Jews (Judaism), the descendants of Abraham through Isaac, or that of the Arab Muslims (Islam) in the Middle East, the descendants of Abraham through Ishmael, that it is the Jews or the Arab Muslims that God has vested with the dominion of the world.
About the Author:
Isabelo Suelo Alcordo, born on July 8, 1935, was one of 11 children of a very poor Roman Catholic couple. He finished his high school as a self-supporting student-farmer in 1954 from Bukidnon National Agricultural School at Musuan, Bukidnon (now Central Mindanao University), Island of Mindanao, Philippines. Sometine in 1952, at age 17, while a student there, he got sick to the point of death. Alone in his cogon-roofed hut lying on a bamboo bed, he prayed to Christ Jesus for him "to come home" to his Lord. Suddenly, the roof and the walls of the hut disappeared. He found himself staring at an extremely brilliant sky above. The sky then split in two and a stairway slowly descended from above until the lower end rested on the floor at the foot-end of his bed. Standing on the steps of the stairway, at both ends of the steps, from the first step to as far as his eyes could see were young men loosely dressed in white from the neck down to the feet. Between the two young men, at the center of the first step was another man similarly dressed as the others. The author intuitively recognized the man as Christ Jesus. Jesus then extended his right hand to the author. The author's conscious spiritual body responded by raising itself from the head to the waist to reach out to Jesus' extended hand. He was also conscious of the "death" of his natural body from the waist up to the head. Before their hands touched, in a mental communication, Jesus asked him, "Are you ready?" And he answered, "No, not yet." At that instant, the vision vanished and he found myself back in bed with his whole body stiff. He twisted his body and fell off the bed. The next day, he was healed and was able to walk on his own.
After that vision, his life changed. Everything appeared to have been given to him in a silver platter. Through various scholarships, he got into the best institutions in the Philippines and in the United States: BS from the University of the Philippines at Los Banos in 1958; MS from the University of Hawaii, Honolulu in 1962; and Ph.D. from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana in 1968. In April 1970, at age 34, he was elected by the Board of Regents as the third president of Central Mindanao University (CMU), his high school Alma Mater. He received the highest honors from his co-presidents of state colleges and universities when he was elected President of the Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC), 1974-1975. He retired as university president in 1984. During the first election after the fall of the Marcos regime in 1986, he run for congress in 1987 in the 2nd District of Bukidnon as an Independent to find out God’s will for him. He lost. Right after that, he gave up all thoughts of politics, sure that politics was not God’s chosen way for him.
In 1988, he and his wife immigrated to the Unites States to join their U.S.-born son, Isabelo, Jr., in Florida. He has two self-published books: “The Renewed Call to Jews and Gentiles to the Kingdom of God on Earth” (1994, Carlton Press, Inc., New York City, NY), and “Biblical History of Israel and the Kingdom of God” (2003, Xulon Press, Orlando, Florida). The Philippine edition of his current book "PROSPERITY God's Desire for the Filipino Nation" is endorsed by the Archbishop of Manila, His Excellency Cardinal Gaudencio B. Rosales, as "a source of inspiration and enlightenment for every Filipino."
The author has survived no less than five life-threatening events since birth. His youngest son was kidnapped sometine in 1971 but was recovered by the authorities unharmed. His next youngest son suffered five gun-shot wounds on December 4, 1981 during an assasination attempt on the life of the author and survived.
