THE JEWISH MESSIAH - A MILITARY  LIBERATOR/DICTATOR OR SUFFERING SERVANT OF GOD?

A question was asked:

“Did the Jewish people ever replace their expectation of a liberator messiah with a "suffering servant"? If some of them did, did it occur after the defeat by the Roman Empire in the year 70? Or after the defeat of Bar Kokhba in the next century?”

This is a good question for Jews and Gentiles to ponder. Let me say something to point out the facts reported in the NT and their implications.

(1) Jesus was a Jew Who at the age of twelve had started expressing His understanding of the promised OT Messiah with the religious authorities in Jerusalem (Jn 2:41-47).

(2) At the beginning of His ministry, He definitely knew that His "Call to the Kingdom of God" and  everything that went with the "Call" was to the Jews and the Jews alone. It was "food" for the Jews and not for the Gentiles whom He called "their (Jews') dogs" (Mt 15:26). He told His 12 apostles, and also most likely His other 72 disciples (Lk 10:17), to "Go to the lost sheep of Israel" and "not to enter the towns of the Samaritans or go to the Gentiles" (Mt 10:5-6).

(3) Believers in Jesus as the "Promised Messsiah" whose message to the Jewiswh nation was/is LOVE AND PEACE, hence, SUBMISSION to the ROMANS or any  HUMAN AUTHORITY, not military war against the Romans or against any nation, numbered by the thousands of Jews whom He called the "Light of the world" (Mt 5:14) and "Salt of the Earth" (Mt 5:13). They became so numerous to the point that the Jewish heirarchy decided that Jesus must die or be killed to prevent a rebellion (Jn 11:49-50; 18:14) which, no doubt, could lead to their loss of their privileged positions with Rome.

(4) Jesus, of course, lost to the "Teachers of the Law," to the "Rabbis of the time," to the "Jewish religious heirachy" and was killed. But WITH JESUS'S DEATH SO DID THE NATION ISRAEL IN AD 70 DIE!

(5) Jesus's "The Way Movement" was a Movement of the Jewish Masses led by Jews! At the first Pentecost after Jesus died, about three thousand who accepted Peter's message that Jesus was/is the promised Jewish Messiah were baptized (Ac  2:41). These were God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven (Ac 2:5).  Another few days more with the apostles preaching only within Jerusalem and the number of men believers, not to speak of their wives and children, grew to about five thousand (Ac 4:4).

(6) It was/is said that the backbone of Christianity from the first to the second century were Jewish believers in their Messiah as a "Suffering Servant" and not as a military liberator.

Now, that should answer the question.

FINALLY CONSIDER THESE:

In our present era, FROM WHOM WILL THE MILITARY-LIBERATOR MESSIAH OF ISRAEL
LIBERATE THE JEWS?

If the Jewish people/nation/Israel of today continue to believe in and expect the coming of a military leader Messiah because their rabbis continue to teach that the Gentiles (Christians, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhist, Shintoists, pagans, agnostics, and atheists) are "THEIR DOGS", in the words of Jesus, how can Israel WIN that war, which will be a total war of destruction?

[Mt 15:21-26:  :1 Leaving that place, Jesus withdrew to the region of Tyre and Sidon. 22 A Canaanite woman from that vicinity came to him, crying out, "Lord, Son of David, have mercy on me! My daughter is suffering terribly from demon-possession."

23 Jesus did not answer a word. So his disciples came to him and urged him, "Send her away, for she keeps crying out after us."

24 He answered, "I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel."  25 The woman came and knelt before him. "Lord, help me!" she said.

26 He replied, "It is not right to take the children's bread and toss it to their dogs."  NIV]]

[Mk 7:24-27:  24 Jesus left that place and went to the vicinity of Tyre. He entered a house and did not want anyone to know it; yet he could not keep his presence secret. 25 In fact, as soon as she heard about him, a woman whose little daughter was possessed by an evil spirit came and fell at his feet. 26 The woman was a Greek, born in Syrian Phoenicia. She begged Jesus to drive the demon out of her daughter.

27 "First let the children eat all they want," he told her, "for it is not right to take the children's bread and toss it to their dogs."  NIV]

Of course they can WIN if that military-Jewish Messiah gets the support of the United States and uses the weapons of war in the arsenal of that country. Could this be the reason why there is a VERY STRONG MOVEMENT TO DE-CHRISTIANIZE THAT COUNTRY AND THE AMERICAN PEOPLE?

With the present Pope (Benedict XVI) again ELEVATIING the Jews as the "CHOSEN
PEOPLE OF GOD," in complete CONTRADICTION of the NT revelations, and SUPPORTED by the  Judeo-Christian PROTESTANT DENOMINTIONS and GW BUSH with CONGRESSIONAL APPROVAL of the  NOAHIDE LAW FOR GENTILES as advanced by CONSERVATIVE JEWS, could this JEWISH MILITARY-LIBERATOR-DICRATOR be far behind?
